THE TEAM

Derwen Publishing was founded in 2008 by David Porteous and Susan Mears.

David Porteous has had a long and distinguished career in publishing as a director of David and Charles, and Element Books, and latterly as publisher of David Porteous Editions, an imprint specialising in illustrated books with a particular focus on arts and crafts.

Susan Mears trained as an editor at Century Hutchinson (part of Random House) and subsequently became managing editor of Piatkus Books, and then Element Books. In 1993 she founded Susan Mears Literary Agency, which is considered the foremost UK agency for health, self-help and spirituality-orientated titles. She counts amongst her authors million bestsellers Peter LeMesurier (Great Pyramid Decoded), Martin Palmer (Illustrated Tao Te Ching) and internationally renowned authors of The Jesus Mysteries Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy.

Our editors are Owen Burnham, Denise Ward and Anne Buhrmann, all of whom are highly experienced editors both for fiction and non-fiction. Denise Ward, was also online creative writing tutor for Queen Mary College, London University
